Analog signal…what tv to buy?

I watch regular broadcast tv and don’t plan on getting satelite or cable until I have to, but I do want a new (larger) tv, especially watching movies with my “standard” DVD player. I have heard that that the picture on an HDTV using an analog signal isn’t good, but I haven’t seen it in person. Is the picture really that bad? Does anyone have any recommendations as far as what type of tv I should buy (tube, crt, lcd, dlp, etc)? (Also, what’s the deal with HD DVD’s? What player do you need? Do they play regular, non-HD dvds?) Thanks!

BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK…..

Buy the Hitachi CRT Projection TV
Model 51F59 or 57F59 or 65F59
Cost is $800 for the 51 inch.

TRUE 1080i NATIVE resolution, that’s the highest resolution you can get in ANY type of TV….

And….IT COMES with a Digital TUNER so you can get ALL your local TV stations, including the NEW channels that your OLD TV can’t get.

Then you’re all set up for Hi Def DVDs and Cable/Satellite WHEN you have the money to get it…….
===============
THEN go to EBAY….look up “VOOM satellite” and buy one of those for $50. HD terrestrial recievers COST $200!! Save some money!
When you get it, hook it up to one of the COMPONENT input jacks on your TV, remove the locked cover, insert your Antenna into the RF jack and set up the reciever.

You should have HIGH DEFINITION LOCAL STATIONS….and if it doesn’t get ANY stations, remove the Security Screws from the Voom box (I used my diagonal wire cutters to remove them) and find the ribbon cable where the RF connector is attached to the box. Press the ribbon connector socket Firmly…..sometimes they “look connected” and they aren’t ! Then autoprogram it again….you’ll get your stations.
