New LCD television…HELP!?
Hey. I just purchased this 52″ LCD tv. It’s a Phillips. It’s pretty awesome, but the person who sold it to us tried to get us to by this gold plated cord, saying,
” You’ll need this for a better picture. It gives you a better quality viewing experience.”
I believe he wasn’t just trying to make extra cash or anything, but I just didn’t have another 80 bucks to spend, as I just got finished spending $1400. Anyway, I realize that although the tv is great, it is a little funny. I was watching Transformers on digital cable, and it looked kind of like a home video. I’m sure it’s not the tv, cause video gaming on it is sweeeeeet! Would this cable in fact improve the quality to an extreme? What is this cable called, and where can I get a good deal on one? Thanks!!!
There is no cable out there that should cost that much unless you’re getting like a 100ft cable. Big name cable companies like Monster are not actually providing you better quality with all their fancy marketing and gimmick cables. There are numerous consumer group tests of those cables, and they never provide a visibly better signal. If they provide any kind of “technically superior” signal, its not visible to the human eye.
Try newegg.com or monoprice.com for really good deals on cables. And just make sure you get HDMI 1.3 (as long as the description confirms the cable is 1.3 then you’re good to go). That is if you get an HDMI cable.
