Philips Plasma TVs Reviews

I have a Philips LCd TV model-32PFL5322D/37. I wanted a tv that can support true hi def on 1080i.?

On this site it says the tv has a Display format of 720p and input video formats of 1080i. Does this mean i can get high definition in 1080i? ?? http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-and-plasma/philips-32pfl5322d-32-lcd/4507-6482_7-32402687.html?tag=nav

It will accept 1080i but cannot display it as 1080i. It will convert 1080i to 720p before being displayed.

If an LCD can display 1080i, it can also display 1080p and will be advertised as such. Look at the resolution of the LCD tv. If it is less than 1920 x 1080, then it is not a 1080p display.

On a different note “true HD” is a rather good market tactic. Most consumers would have trouble telling the difference between 720p, 1080i and 1080p TVs, especially in the 37″ size you are looking at.
