Problems With Aspect Ratio when set to Auto in a Panasonic Plasma TH-37PV80EYA?
Hi,
When I go into Aspect Ration and select Auto I am missing information at the top and bottom of the screen Plus the height of the picture keep on varying in height making it almost impossible to watch. If I select 16.9 the screen is too wide and I have a black band at the top and bottom of the screen. When I select JUST the width of the screen is perfect but again a black band at the top and bottom of the screen. When I select Zoom 1 the screen is the same as Auto but does not vary in height but information missing at the top and bottom of the screen I have contacted Panasonic.co.uk and Panasonic.com the feedback to-date is little to none. I have sent Panasonic snap shots of the problem and also other Televisions set at AUTO to help resolve the matter but have not received a reply to-date.Is there any-one out there with the answer to my problem or is it a fault in the Television.
Regards,
Pat,
Ok, AUTO is not the best setting for you…the picture size keeps changing and eventually you’ll PUKE from the variations….
Justified or 16:9 is the best choices….
Now, did you KNOW your cable/satellite box has a 4:3 and a 16:9 aspect ratio setting in it?
It does and you want it set to 16:9….KEEP it there.
Now, here’s the answer to YOUR PROBLEM.
You can set your TV and your Cable/Satellite box and keep it set to those settings and get a full screen on your TV MOST of the time….
BUT
And it’s a BIG BUT….
The TV show and the TV station has these people called Producers…and Camera Operators….and EDITORS.
They produce the show, edit the show and operate the cameras and they follow the directions of the BIG BOSSman.
Well guess what…if they want to record the show in 16:9 you get a full screen picture, but if they want to record it in 15:10 mode, you get black bars.
And if they jam a 4:3 picture in a 16:9 FRAME, then you get a 16:9 Picture with a 4:3 picture JAMMED into it ! And you can’t make it change it’s size when they do that!
That sucks!
And you can’t do anything about that…you can TRY to zoom it, you can try to justify it, you can try to Wide Zoom it, and it will NEVER FIT!
ARRGH you say…..OOOOGH you say…GRRRRR you say!
And then eventually you accept the fact that the artsy-fartsy crowd has a right to express themselves with their TV shows and their magical format buttons, and that there’s nothing you can do to stop them…..short of writing them a letter and NOT watching their TV show.
So…don’t go looking for Panasonic repairs/answers on this situation. My Hitachi TV does the SAME THING as yours does…
At least there’s some TV stations that don’t do that….
