is it ok to put a plasma television in a wall unit?
The TV just fits in. Should I drill ventilation holes in the back. I know they get hot
Plasma television uses charged gas so it is hotter then most “non-plasma” TVs. A plasma should not get so hot that you cannot touch it so it will not cause a fire or anything crazy like that. However, if a plasma screen television if left on for an extended period of time, the unit can grow quite hot and potentially reduce the lifespan of your plasma. I would be concerned if your plasma is in an enclosed space.
If you were to put this TV in a wall unit, please make sure you follow your manufacturer instructions on space and ventilation. In my opinion, it looks like the space is a bit tight if your TV just fits in so I do not think the vent holes is a bad idea but check with manufacturer’s instructions on this.
