What’s a reasonable contrast ratio for LCD TVs?
want good quality pic, but what is the right ratio and what is just ridiculous. Sony TV comparisons –> 3,000:1 (50,000:1 dynamic), 1,000,000:1 (dynamic); 3000:1 (native)
- for family use (ie movies, tv)
- no gaming/PS3
- can you see a significant difference for the price
- can the naked eye see it or are you being con-ed by some sales guy and sony
If it’s pic quality you’re looking for, go with a Plasma TV. They have the highest contrast ratio’s and fastest refresh rates!
Contrast ratio and pixel response time are the two most important things for a HDTV in terms of picture quality. Panasonic now has Plasma’s with contrast ratio’s of 2,000,000:1 dynamic(40,000:1 native) and refresh rates of 600hz! And their pixel response times are near instant, making them perfect for sports & movies! Regular LCD’s can’t compete with that! LED LCD’s come very close to that, but are a lot more expensive!
Your best bet for picture quality is a Plasma TV and i can personally vouch for Panasonic because i own one and i absolutely love it! If i wasn’t 100% satisfied with it, i wouldn’t recommend it to someone else!
