Has the burnout problem on plasma HDTV TV’s been corrected?
I am looking at a Samsung 42″ plasma but am scared of the burnout problems I have been reading about. Should i go LCD>. I don’t play video games. Just watch sports
To make it as short as possible, I have been doing research on plasma/lcd tvs for more than a year. And for more than a year, I have been reading “What Video”, a HDTV magazine with over 25 years of tv reviewing hstory, it has their own lab with unique equipments to test the TRUE specification of almost every models of HDTV that are on sale. I see the growth of technology in both plasma n lcd tvs. Plasmas are so much improved on the burn-in issues nowadays, and channel logos are now much lower in contrast too. Thus the burn-in issue is not really a problem at all as long as u do switch between channels for everyday. If u are a sports fan, it’s recommended to have a plasma tv for yourself. Even with improved technology, LCDs haven’t surpass the motion artefacts issue when comparing with Plasma Tvs, especially if u are watching “fast-moving” sports, it could be a little annoying at times. Majority of the Plasma TVs still handle motion artefacts better than LCD Tvs. Personally I don’t recommend u to have a Samsung plasma tv. Samsung is quite good with their LCDs, and now with their newest R74BD series, they seriously have break through in their own LCD technology. However, Samsung’s plasma is always consider as so much inferior to other brands of plasm tvs. In short, if u have a tide budget, Samsung R74BD series is definitely your choice. It’s a decent LCD tv with amazingly cheap price. If u demand HIGH performance from your Tv, have Sony’s Bravia series or Panasonic 60 series LCD if u choose LCDs over Plasmas. If u wish to have a plasma, have either Pioneer’s or Panasonic’s 500,60 or 600 series plasmas. Panasonic plasma always have unbeatable black levels compare to other lcd/plasma, and they handle motion artefacts so well that make it simply the best HDTV with almost NO motion artefacts at all!
