LCD TVs Sears
T.V. question…….?

Im researching t.v.’s and there so many different ones. Whats the difference between all of them? I was on sears.com, and it asked “search for, all plasma and LCD tv’s, search all projection tvs, and search all HDTV’s” Is the difference between them that much of a difference?

Man, several sites compare two, maybe three technologies, but I’m sure you want ALL TECHNOLOGIES COMPARED.

So here you go…..it grades and provides information on each test they have performed….overall, there are 2 technologies that have a better OVERALL grade….I’ll let you figure it out….

I knew one was better overall….and I bought one.
You can break it down to a Best Picture or a Best Cost or Best Reliability….And, if you watch TV in a sunlit room, choose a matte screen, not glass.

Best Picture… LCos or CRT Projection or CRT
Best Cost ….CRT or CRT Projection
Best Reliability….CRT or CRT Projection

Now that I’ve given you my OPINION, you should be totally confused. One guy likes Plasma, another guy likes CRT.
One likes 1080 x 1920 and the other guy likes 1080 x “Limited only by the camera’s capabilities”
It’s those grids in LCD, DLP, Plasma, and Lcos that I don’t like…..

And another guy might like grids….and say CRT Projection is JUNK, but I say CRT Projection has been out there since 1979 and has worked all the bugs out, they now provide about 12 to 18 years of service and NOBODY Knows how long a Plasma or DLP or LCD or LCOS will go….
But I have seen a BOATLOAD of BAD Lamps within 2 years of Purchasing the LAMP based TVs. Also, I have seen Plasmas die, only to find out the actual display wiped out the power supplys….

As for PROJECTION….I’ve seen one or two Convergence amps go out in most brands….the rest of the TV just doesn’t seem to require any repairs. At least those parts don’t come near the COST of a lamp or a Plasma Display or even a Plasma’s power supply !!

Personally, I’ll wait until the NEW LED/LASER Lamps get a couple years of debugging on them, once they get the Brightness up higher, then I’ll go for the DLP….
