How do poor people have all the same things we do?
Is it just me, or doing being “poor” really not mean the same thing as it used to? I know people that are on food stamps and welfare, yet you go into their homes and they have widescreen televisions and computers with Internet. My fiance’s sister lives in government housing and her kids all have iPods and cell phones. I know people who are supposed to be poor and have all the same things I do and they text me on phones better than my own and have laptops and stuff. If the poor people have all the same things we do, what gives? It’s an odd sight walking into a ghetto home and seeing a plasma TV.
Well, not as an excuse, but the prices of these things are going down…
In general, our country has a twisted idea of what is “Mandatory” for life… Instead of just “Food, Shelter, Clothes, & Schooling” it has changed to “iPods, Internet, & TiVo”.
A friend of mine is on state aid and he manages to support his opiate habit and still buy his kid EVERYTHING she wants that her truly rich friends have.
I don’t get it…
I’m disabled and I was turned down for ANY form of aid because I had all my diagnoses in a different state… When I was 10.
I am so sick and tired of seeing these “Aid Babies” that are totally ABLE to work but don’t want to suckling the teet of uncle sam because they want a free ride while people that actually need help are stuck because there isn’t enough to go around.
